With the Bill Kenwright ruling, an update on naming rights is revealed at the new Everton stadium.

Oliver Holt has speculated that an airline or a major telecom company will probably win the naming rights to the new Everton stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

After Bill Kenwright passed away, a journalist for The Daily Mail stated in the print edition [31 October, pg 63] that naming the new stadium in his honour would be far more appropriate.

It is argued that Everton might never have been able to raise the necessary funds to move forward with construction of the new complex on the docks without Kenwright.

“It might never have secured the finance for the magnificent new stadium, which is being built at Bramley-Moore Dock, without Bill’s guidance and drive,” the author wrote.

It will most likely bear the name of a sponsor, such as a major airline or telecom company. How much more appropriate would it be to call it The Bill Kenwright Stadium?

Nobody can argue that Kenwright was not the real heart and soul of the Everton Football Club.

The club’s primary focus on that front will probably be naming rights deals, which are regrettably among the most lucrative in the world of football (just look at Barcelona and Spotify).

It is not surprising that has already been mentioned as a possible avenue, given that the club’s financial situation is visible to all parties while the case against the Premier League continues.

Naming a stand or particular section of the new ground is one way Everton could honour Kenwright, and there’s no doubt that something along those lines will undoubtedly take place.

In addition to bringing back a plethora of memories, the first day of operations at the new stadium will offer everyone another opportunity to honour Kenwright for everything he has done for the team during his tenure.
