GREAT NEWS. West Ham can sign five upgrades from…

Five Michail Antonio upgrades West Ham can sign.

Although the Hammers forward has served them well over the years, they have a few options to improve with.

Michail Antonio, who joined the team in 2015, has been a valuable member of West Ham United and is likely to be remembered as one of the team’s most beloved players. He has led the Hammers’ lines for some fantastic years in the Premier League thanks to his lightning-fast pace and tremendous work ethic.

His impact and contributions in the team shouldn’t be dismissed, but at 33 years old, he’s noticeably taken a step back recently. Despite scoring a career-high 14 goals last season across all competitions, he scored just five in the league and has hit the back of the net just twice so far this time around.

For years now, David Moyes’ side have been crying out for a prolific goalscorer to lead the front line and while Antonio has been incredible over the years for a variety of reasons, he’s not quite the player to do that anymore. With that being said, we’ve decided to take a look and identify five strikers who the Hammers could and maybe should bring in to provide an upgrade on the Englishman.

Though his contributions to the team and influence shouldn’t be undervalued, at 33 years old, he has clearly regressed recently. Although he had a career-high 14 goals last season across all leagues, he only had five in the league and has only found the back of the net twice so far this season.

David Moyes’ team has been aching for a prolific goal scorer to lead the front line for years, and although Antonio has excelled for many reasons throughout the years, he isn’t quite the player to fill that role anymore. Therefore, in order to give the Hammers an upgrade, we’ve chosen to examine and identify five strikers that they may and may not want to bring in.

We’re not advocating that they fire Antonio. Not by much, but it would make sense for him and the team if he played a less supportive role off the bench, switching to an impact sub while someone else started in the starting position. Without further ado, here are the five strikers we’ve come up with.

We might as well begin with a striker who appears to be a January transfer target and with whom West Ham has actually been linked. Serhou Guirassy has excelled at VfB Stuttgart this season, setting himself apart as one of Europe’s best goal scorers. With nine games played so far this season in all competitions, the forward has already scored an incredible fifteen goals.

He’s currently sidelined due to injury, but he should soon return and resume his insane form; if Moyes is wise, he’ll do so in England in no time. Guirassy, who is 27 years old, still has a lot of years ahead of him. If he can perform half as well at the Hammers as he has thus far,

Since West Ham has been linked to a striker who looks likely to sign in January, we might as well start with him. Serhou Guirassy has been on a mission at VfB Stuttgart this season, exploding into one of Europe’s top goal scorers. The forward has already scored an incredible fifteen goals this season in nine games across all competitions.

He is currently injured but should soon return and resume his insane form; however, if Moyes is wise, he will do so in England very quickly. Guirassy is still quite young at 27, and if he can even close to his current level of effectiveness at the Hammers,

Anthony Martial, a forward for Manchester United, has also been connected to West Ham. The Frenchman’s time at Old Trafford hasn’t been the best over the years, and it appears as though his time with the Red Devils is almost over. Known for his speed, Martial has regularly given defenders trouble throughout the years, but like Antonio, his performance has recently been subpar.

Martial has struggled with injuries during his time in England, but if the Hammers are prepared to take a chance on his health, the move could greatly aid in his recovery and help him regain the form that once made him one of the most exciting young prospects in the world.

Anthony Martial of Manchester United is another forward with whom West Ham has been associated. Over the years, the Frenchman hasn’t had the best of times at Old Trafford, and it appears as though his time with the Red Devils is almost over. With his reputation for speed, Martial has regularly given defenders trouble over the years; however, like Antonio, his performance of late has been subpar.

Injury setbacks have plagued Martial during his time in England, but if the Hammers are prepared to take a chance on his health, the move could be a huge aid in getting him back to the form that once made him one of the world’s most exciting young prospects.

There’s still a very good forward in Martial somewhere, and the Hammers have proven they can help rehabilitate elite players—just take a look at what they did with Jesse Lingard. This seems like a no-brainer if they can acquire the Frenchman for a low price. That being said, it’s probably best to move on to another target right away if they’re asked to contribute a sizeable sum of money. This is a move that could benefit the striker as well as the team, and if they are successful in bringing him in, there’s a chance he could end up becoming a superstar.

Tammy Abraham reminded everyone what a unique kind of player he is after he moved to AS Roma. The player, who has a strong goal scoring record for Chelsea but is frequently overlooked, has already shown he has what it takes to consistently score goals in the Premier League and would be a wise addition to the Hammers.

He can match Antonio’s pace, but he also scores goals frequently and would probably be successful under Moyes. Abraham would perform as well as a few of the players who are possibly available right now. Given that West Ham has already been connected to him, there’s a strong possibility that they will actually

After relocating to AS Roma, Tammy Abraham made it clear to everyone just what kind of player he is. The star has already shown he has what it takes to score regularly in the Premier League and would be a very wise addition for the Hammers. He is frequently overlooked at Chelsea despite having a very strong goal scoring record for the Blues.

He’s fast enough to keep up with Antonio, but he also scores goals frequently, so under Moyes, he would probably be successful. Very few players who could be available right now could perform as well as Abraham could. West Ham has a strong chance of winning the transfer since they have already been linked to him.

Abraham may be the safest choice on this list because he is a Premier League-tested forward, but if he were added to the team, he would also be among the best. But, the competition to sign the former Chelsea player could be fierce, with interest from multiple English teams fighting for a spot in the European tournament.

Viktor Gyokeres was a highly-regarded forward when he played in the Championship with Coventry City, so it’s pretty unbelievable that no Premier League team signed him. Rather, he made the switch to Sporting Lisbon in the summer, and he has since become a huge star in Portugal. For the team, his goal-scoring percentage hasn’t decreased at all.

He may have even elevated his game to a completely new level. The 25-year-old has already scored eight goals in his first 11 games of the season, demonstrating that his skill in front of goal isn’t restricted to any one setup and that he can play in many leagues.

Gyokeres may be difficult for the Hammers to sign because he only joined Sporting in the summer, but the effort would be worthwhile. It would be a huge steal to sign him, and if he continues to play at this calibre, it is not difficult to see him emerging as one of Europe’s best forwards. Although signing him now could be expensive, it will only be a small portion of what he will most likely be worth in the near future.

Surprisingly, Santiago Gimenez’s amazing form in the Eredivisie this season has gone largely unnoticed. Even though Ajax’s highly publicised struggles are receiving all the attention, Feyenoord’s forward has been on fire thus far this season, and few players in Europe are scoring as much as he is.

He signed with Feyenoord last summer after making an impression at Cruz Azul, but he didn’t exactly uproot any trees. Since then, his game has reached incredible heights. He improved even further this season after netting 23 goals across all competitions the previous year as he became acclimated to life at the club. He’s already scored 15 goals in 12 games, which is more than Erling Haaland in the Premier League, and he’s easily

Santiago Gimenez’s amazing form in the Eredivisie this season has gone largely unnoticed, which is quite surprising. While all the attention may be on Ajax’s highly publicised difficulties, the forward has been on fire for Feyenoord thus far this season, and not many players in Europe are scoring goals at the calibre that he is.

Feyenoord is now in fourth place, but it’s difficult to imagine where they would be at this point if the Argentine hadn’t been leading the lines for them so successfully thus far. Adding someone who is currently in the best shape of his life could be extremely beneficial for Moyes and his team, as Antonio has struggled to score goals on a regular basis this season. But given his significance to the group, Feyenoord’s willingness to give up their lucky charm is probably going to be difficult to persuade. Did we also mention that he’s only 22 years old? His impressive scoring rate at such a young age basically means that, should West Ham be able to sign him, they could have

Antonio hasn’t been able to score many goals this season, so adding someone who’s in the best form of his life could be extremely beneficial for Moyes and the team. It will likely take a lot to persuade Feyenoord to give up their lucky charm, though, given his significance to the team. Not to add that he’s only 22 years old? At such a young age, his rate of scoring is very promising, which basically means that if West Ham are able to acquire him, they could have

Don’t get me wrong; Antonio is still a fantastic forward who can occasionally work magic in the Premier League. The problem is that those times are becoming fewer and farther between. He still has a place at the Hammers, so cutting him loose is not the right decision, but taking him out of the starting lineup and having a younger, more effective forward lead the lines would greatly improve the team’s results on the pitch. Whether Moyes truly looks to replace him, only time will tell.

Contrary to popular belief, Antonio is still a talented forward who occasionally performs magic in the Premier League. The problem is that those opportunities are becoming fewer and farther between. While he is still valuable to the Hammers and should not be let go, the team’s results would be much better if he were to drop out of the starting lineup and be replaced by a younger, more productive forward. Whether Moyes genuinely looks to replace him, however, will only become clear with time.
