The rankings for the second College Football Playoff have not changed.
The CFP selection committee maintained Ohio State as the top-ranked team in the Top 25. Georgia, Michigan, and Florida State were the next teams to finish unbeaten.
Some people might be surprised by this considering that Ohio State struggled on the road against Rutgers, which is ranked, on Saturday. The Buckeyes led the Scarlet Knights 9–7 at the half, but they rallied for a 28–7 victory to win 35–16.
Georgia, meanwhile, defeated No. 16 Missouri 30–21 at home, and both Michigan and Florida State completely destroyed their opponents.
There was some discussion about Washington possibly making a big move into the top four following their 52-42 road victory over Caleb Williams and USC on Saturday. But the Huskies are still ranked No. 5, hovering around the periphery of the bubble alongside No. 6 Oregon.
Penn State, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Ole Miss are the other teams that comprise the Top 10. Like Oregon, they’re all 8-1.
However, there may be a significant change in these rankings the following week, particularly with regard to Georgia and Michigan.
Ole Miss, ranked nine spots, will visit the Bulldogs. This is Georgia’s hardest assignment to date. The team’s final regular-season game against Georgia Tech comes right after, with a road trip to No. 13 Tennessee.
In a highly anticipated game on Saturday, Michigan will travel to State College to take on the No. 10 Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium. Ohio State vs Michigan, which takes place two weeks from now, will undoubtedly affect the CFP rankings leading up to conference titles.
This week, the Washington Huskies travel to No. 12 Oregon State before hosting the No. 18 Utah Utes.
For Michael Penix Jr. and the Huskies to have a chance to play in the CFP come playoff time, these next two weeks are essential. Additionally, Oregon will play USC, which is trying to recover from its defeat to Washington.
