CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio State’s six-game home schedule for 2023 comes to an end on Saturday at 4 p.m. when it takes on the Minnesota Golden Gophers on the Big Ten Network. Prior to kickoff, the team’s senior members will be honoured.

In this 1921–1921 series, Ohio State has defeated the Golden Gophers 11 times in a row, 27 times in the last 28, and 39 times in the last 41 games.
Ohio State leads the series overall 46-7 in victories over all other teams.
At Ohio Stadium, Ohio State has defeated Minnesota six times in a row. The team has a 24-3 overall record in games played in Columbus.
For the seventeenth occasion in the program’s existence, the Buckeyes are enjoying a winning run of at least ten games.
With 30 seasons with 10 or more victories, Ohio State ranks fourth all-time in the country.
The week before Ohio State’s yearly season finale against Michigan, the team has won seven straight games. The week before The Game in 2015, MSU defeated OSU, 17–14.WR1 Marvin Harrison Jr. ranks seventh with 1,063 yards and second in the country with 12 receiving touchdowns.

Numbers to Know #3: With 75 career receptions, 988 receiving yards, and nine touchdown receptions, Cade Stover ranks third among all TEs in Ohio State history. 34 catches for 508 yards and 4 touchdowns this season.

30+: In Ohio State’s 45-31 victory over Minnesota in 2021, all six of their touchdown runs were 30 yards or longer. Two of those runs were a 70-yard reception by TreVeyon Henderson and a 71-yard rush by Miyan Williams.

6: TreVeyon Henderson, the running back, and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. have each scored touchdowns in six straight games. Henderson has scored nine touchdowns during this period, compared to Harrison Jr.’s ten.

Second: Ohio State is ranked second nationally in the fewest passing yards allowed, having only allowed 88 passing yards to MSU.at 149.8 a match. With 54 passes defended (6 INTs; 48 PBUs), the defence is ranked 11th overall.

After losing 49-30 at Purdue last Saturday, the Golden Gophers dropped to 5-5 overall.
Athan Kaliakmanis, the quarterback in that game, completed his pass for 292 yards and three touchdowns, but Minnesota was unable to rally from a 42-20 deficit early in the fourth quarter.
Daniel Jackson, a wide receiver, hauled in seven passes for 119 yards. With seven touchdowns and 681 receiving yards this season, he leads the team in receiving yards.

Much of Minnesota’s offensive identity comes from its two running backs, Jordan Nubin (81 receptions, 393 yards) and Darius Taylor (103 receptions, 591 yards, but unavailable last week). The Golden Gophers are third in the Big Ten in terms of rushing attempts per game (40.1) and fifth in terms of rushing offence (160.4 yards/game).
Maverick Baranowski, a linebacker, leads the squad with 52 tackles, whileTyler Nubin leads the team in interceptions with four.
This season, Minnesota has defeated Michigan State, Nebraska, Eastern Michigan, Louisiana, and Iowa. It will play Wisconsin at home on Saturday, Nov. 25, to wrap up the regular season.

We Don’t Often Know One Another

Since Ohio State’s CFP national championship season in 2014, this is just the team’s fifth meeting with Minnesota.
In the past ten years, Ohio State has only faced Iowa twice, Purdue three times, and Illinois three times each, which is the only other Big Ten team.

The Defense’s Ascent

Under second-year coordinator Jim Knowles, Ohio State’s defence ranks fourth in the nation, giving up just 262.2 total yards per contest.
The group ranks 22nd against the run (112.4) and second in both scoring defence (9.9) and passing defence (149.8).
Furthermore, the defence ranks ninth nationally in red zone deniability efficiency with a 73 percent rate and has only given up 16 points, ranking fourth nationally.

This Is Not A Joke.

The defence of Ohio State has not allowed a rushing touchdown in five straight games and just three total this season (by Youngstown State, Notre Dame, and Maryland).
It was 26 years ago, in 1997, that the Buckeyes stopped five straight Big Ten opponents from scoring a rushing touchdown in a single season.Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Michigan State, and Minnesota.
