The coach believes Beaver Stadium will host a “very complete football team” when the Scarlet Knights play.
As Penn State prepares for its final home game of the 2023 season, it moves on from Michigan. On Senior Day, the Nittany Lions welcome Rutgers to Beaver Stadium, and a lot of change is in store.
After splitting from Mike Yurcich on Sunday, Penn State head coach James Franklin elevated position coaches Ja’Juan Seider (running backs) and Ty Howle (tight ends) to temporary offensive coordinator positions. However, Greg Schiano, the coach of Rutgers, who claims to have known Seider since high school, anticipates the assistants to rely on their individual strengths.
In a recent interview, Schiano—who is in his fourth season at Rutgers—discussed his goals for Rutgers going forward as well as his expectations for this game.
On FS1, the Penn State-Rutgers game begins at noon ET on Saturday.
Schiano on the offensive coordinator switch at Penn State
I am acquainted with every individual concerned, and I have known Ja’Juan [Seider, the acting coordinator] since he was a young teenager in high school. Each of them is a skilled coach. I’m sure they’ll have a fantastic plan formulated. That’s what I know when you look at their staff, you know. They have two extremely talented running backs and an excellent offensive line featuring an excellent tackle.
I believe they have two or three great tight ends, depending on who is making the judgement. There is a young quarterback who is highly regarded and receivers who are undoubtedly improving. They are, therefore, a very well-rounded football team. I believe I’ve said it.There are numerous components in place.
Schiano on the defence of Penn State
They are excellent. On all three fronts, they excel. They have superior running ability to any defence I’ve seen in a while. Their advances. They run as well as most of the teams’ safeties on defence. This year’s crop of talent is genuinely exceptional. Big challenge, then. We certainly have a lot on our plate. Making a lot of effort to try and solve it.
Schiano in his fourth year at Rutgers
We are a programme for development. We are undoubtedly evolving. This is how we’re going to go [pointing in an upward direction]. But let’s acknowledge our identity. One of the main topics I discuss with our team is that. I believe that meant a lot that Rutgerspossess more time here than I do. I am somewhat familiar with this location. While I may not be familiar with every location, I am aware of this one. You truly need to remain true to who you are here, too.
You see, the way we’ve played the game has given us a chance to win going into the fourth quarter of every game we’ve played this year. That was not the case in the past. That seems like a little improvement to me. Although it would be great for all of us to go from 4-8 to 12-0, at Rutgers, that is simply not how things work. Not here, maybe somewhere else. Maybe you could turn it around if you went into free agency, sorry, NIL, and signed all these players in one fell swoop because you had a bankroll the size of Detroit.
We are aware of who we are. I’m aware of who we are. Additionally, the way we are currently playing the game may not

It is debatable whether or not what we do now is right or wrong, which is what makes sports so wonderful, isn’t it? That’s the reason you all work. You are a writer. It agitates it. People are eager to discuss it. I work because people want to come watch it, which is why I am employed. However, we firmly believe that our current approach offers us the best chance of success. It does not ensure our victory. That is not where we are at. Hopefully, we’ll reach that stage in the future. That is our method, in a sense.
