Stefano Pioli made a significant effort to convince the Milan management to remove Rade Krunic from the market for the summer. His risk hasn’t paid off, though, as Rossoneri is now “seriously considering” cutting the Bosnia & Herzegovina midfielder again.

Samuele Longo of MilanNews claims that Krunic has lost the club’s favor as a result of his lackluster early-season performances. Ismael Bennacer, a Milan mainstay, is about to make his long-awaited comeback, therefore the 30-year-old runs the risk of being considered surplus to needs.

During the summer transfer window, Krunic was contacted by Fenerbahce, but Milan remained mute. The Serie A powerhouses rejected the Turks’ approach and chose to take a risk because of Pioli. However, since the manager’s tactical suggestions haven’t materialized, the Bosnian may depart in January.

When the transfer window reopens this winter, Fenerbahce might come back with a serious offer for the Milan underachiever. Pioli has more important things to take care of, but it’s still unclear how he will respond to the board’s decision. After a 2-2 tie with Lecce prior to the international break, he was left speechless and had to battle to keep his skin intact.

Pioli may have to comply in order to earn back the team’s trust, therefore there’s a chance Krunic will go during the winter. To further reinforce this feeling, Milan has already decided against pursuing a contract extension due to the player’s high wage demands.
