Following the unintentional gunshot death of a 2-year-old, a Michigan man is charged.
CBS Detroit/LANSING, Mich. After his gun allegedly unintentionally discharged in October, killing a 2-year-old boy, a Michigan man has been charged.

According to officials, Coward picked up the gun from the petrol station when he got back and put it back in the car after the unintentional discharge.
Mr. Mark Totten, the United States Attorney for the Western District of Michigan, has announced that Avis Damone Coward has been charged with felon in possession.
Coward allegedly got out of his car and went into a petrol station in Lansing on October 24.
He left his mother and a 2-year-old child in the car while he was doing this. A bullet hole appeared in the car window about a minute later, according to the video footage.
Authorities claim that the boy, who was bleeding from a gunshot wound, was carried by his mother as she got out of the car. The wounds eventually claimed his life.
Coward’s gun fell out of the car as she was getting out. He picked up the gun and put it back in the car after he got back from the petrol station.
According to U.S. Attorney Mark Totten, “the story of a child dying from gunshot wounds should never be written.” However, starting in 2022, gun violence will rank as the leading cause of death for children in America for the first time ever. My office is going to use every resource at its disposal to ensure full accountability and stop further harm as this spreading epidemic affects our most defenceless citizens.”
