Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of Michigan, was aware of how difficult it would be to cover Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. going into the game.
“He’s an excellent player. Perhaps a better phrase to use would be “you gotta slow him down,” Harbaugh stated.
Harrison Jr. was slowed down, but he did get some mileage against Michigan, with five receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, while he was aiming for Harrison Jr., Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord threw two interceptions. The result of the game was significantly impacted by these interceptions.
Will Johnson jumped the route on the first interception, which set up a touchdown run by Blake Corum to put Michigan ahead 7-0.
