Miami Hurricanes: Intriguing Transfer Portal Prospects

Miami Hurricanes: Which Transfer Portal Targets Should The Canes Target? - All Hurricanes on Sports Illustrated: News, Analysis, and More

When the Transfer Portal formally opens on December 4, the Miami Hurricanes will require an additional infusion of talent. Beyond the abundance of quarterbacks who have already chosen to transfer, there are already some elite prospects to take into account.

Note that Miami does not have specific needs before continuing. It is important to keep in mind that more UM players will sign with the NFL and visit the Portal. For the time being, these three players are already leaving their current school and seem like good fits for Miami.

If Mitchell was unknown to the public before this year’s FIU vs. Arkansas game, they most definitely had an opportunity to learn more about him by the conclusion of that match. The data in Mitchell’s stat line is telling:

157 yards, 6 receptions, and a strong average of 26.2 yards per catch. Although Arkansas is in the SEC West, the Razorbacks are not a very good team. Mitchell made plays that should have garnered him greater recognition.

Mitchell has four games with over 100 receiving yards and nine games with over 70 yards in the 2023 campaign. These are his complete receiving statistics for 2023:

Mitchell is a native of Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin, the same high school where Deryc Plazz, a current UM 2024 offensive line commitment, attends.

Joey Slackman, University of Pennsylvania Quakers’ defensive tackle

With his listed weight of 300 pounds and his girth, Slackman was a first-team All-Ivy League selection. His playmaking ability would make him a valuable addition to Miami’s defensive tackle depth chart. Slackman’s 2023 data are as follows:

There are 50 total tackles—23 solo and 27 assisted. In addition, he has four sacks, four quarterback hurries, twelve tackles for loss, and one pass breakup.

Considering his social media post, Miami is already in the running for Slackman’s recruits.
