The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are happy to announce the official start of the Canterbury-Bankstown District Junior Rugby League (CBDJRL) Season 2024. Families who qualify can receive a $100 registration fee reduction per child*.
Children who meet the age requirements, which range from Under 5s to Under 13s within the CBDJRL, are eligible for a new registration grant subsidy funded by Canterbury League Club, as announced by the Club last month. The subsidy offers up to $100 per child.
The grant aims to lower overhead expenses for families and promote local grassroots rugby league participation by thousands of children.
From Chester Hill and Berala in the north to the Georges River in the south, and from Moorebank to Clemton Park in the west, the CBDJRL encompasses a wide area. The Bankstown Bulls, Bankstown Sports, Berala Bears, Chester Hill Hornets, East Hills, Greenacre Tigers, Milperra Colts, Moorebank Rams, Revesby Heights Rhinos, St George Dragons, St Christophers, and St Johns Eagles are among the 12 clubs that make up the CBDJRL, which was founded in 1921 and has played rugby league for 102 seasons.
In 2023, these organizations brought together over 3,500 players on 204 teams, from boys’ and girls’ Under 5 to Under 12 teams, and from men’s and women’s open teams to tackle and tag divisions. Players from many cultures and faiths come together under the banner of the sport thanks to the region’s rich cultural diversity.
The Bulldogs and all of the CBDJRL clubs want to see a sharp increase in participation by 2024. According to CEO Aaron Warburton, the registration subsidy served to both support local families and promote the game at the grassroots level:
“We want the game and the innate sense of community it fosters to be accessible to families in our community. Our traditional family values and sense of community are perfectly aligned with this initiative, and we look forward to seeing more children participate in sports thanks to the registration subsidy.
The official registration period for CBDJRL clubs will open today, December 1, 2023.
