The Philadelphia Eagles, who already have more alumni from Alabama than any other NFL team, welcomed another one on Thursday.

The NFL team announced that wide receiver Cam Sims has joined the Philadelphia practice squad.

Sims had not been in the league since his release from the practice squad by the New York Giants on October 10.

In 17 games and 328 offensive snaps during his fifth season with the Washington Commanders in 2022, Sims had eight receptions for 89 yards. He also played 244 special-teams plays.

Sims became a free agent in March and signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, on August 29, the team cut Sims when it cut its preseason roster to 53 players in preparation for the regular season.

The Giants acquired Sims on September 4.

Joining offensive lineman Ross Pierschbacher on the Philadelphia practice squad is Sims, another Alabama alum. The Eagles’ current roster features the following former Alabama players:

· Guard Landon Dickerson

· Quarterback Jalen Hurts
· Cornerback Josh Jobe

· Wide receiver Julio Jones

· Cornerback Eli Ricks
· Wide receiver DeVonta Smith
· Offensive lineman Tyler Steen

After cutting wide receiver Greg Ward from the practice squad, Philadelphia signed Sims. Throughout his 40 regular-season games, Ward had 88 receptions for 768 yards and 10 touchdowns; all of his action came in the 2019–2020 and 2021 seasons. Ward joined the Eagles in 2017.

In his four seasons at Alabama, Sims caught 41 passes for 467 yards and two touchdowns. In 2018, as an undrafted rookie, he was added to the Washington regular season roster. However, Sims was injured during the first kickoff of the first game, which ended his season.

Sims returned and spent the following four seasons with Washington, catching 57 passes for 804 yards and three touchdowns in 54 games.
