Brandon Hunter, an Ohio University standout and former NBA player, passed away at the age of 42, according to the Orlando Magic, his former team.

According to NBC News, Hunter, a Cincinnati, Ohio native, passed away on Tuesday after collapsing during a hot yoga class at an Orlando, Florida studio. It was not revealed what caused his death.

As stated by Hunter’s mother-in-law Carolyn Cliett, “It was hot yoga, and he did it regularly.” As far as we know, he was in good health. We’re just taken aback.

Hunter’s passing was verified by The Magic in a statement released on Tuesday.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of Brandon Hunter’s passing, our former teammate. The entire Hunter family has our sincere condolences, the Magic tweeted.

Coach Jeff Boals of the Ohio men’s basketball team expressed his own sympathies to the family and friends of Hunter, referring to the 6-foot-7 forward as “a great ambassador for Ohio.” In 2022, Hunter was admitted into the Ohio University Athletics Hall of Fame.
