The brilliant quarterback for Kansas City has his name entered for one of the most esteemed annual prizes in the NFL.

Patrick Mahomes is undoubtedly one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but he also has a significant impact off the field. Mahomes plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes has been formally nominated by the team for the Walter Payton Man NFL Man of the Year Award, which is given out by Nationwide, for the second consecutive year.

The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award is “the league’s most prestigious honor given annually to the player who best represents the greatness and compassion of Walter Payton on and off the field,” according to league commissioner Roger Goodell. The NFL Foundation and Nationwide will donate up to $55,000 to the charity of the nominee’s choice, and the winner will receive a $250,000 donation.

Every team selects one nominee, and this season, Mahomes is joined by both well-known players and unsung heroes. This is the complete list. Mahomes and the other thirty-one 2023–24 campaign nominees will have a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year decal on their helmets for the duration of the season. Mahomes stated the following regarding his re-nomination this season, per the Chiefs’ statement on Tuesday:

Since launching his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation in 2019, Mahomes has had a hugely positive influence. According to the Chiefs, the foundation has awarded more than $4 million in grants and programs to support local children with a variety of resources to improve their health and wellness. Furthermore, Mahomes and his spouse Brittany have generously donated both time and money to organizations such as Make-A-Wish, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and others.

It was announced earlier in the year that Mahomes had emerged victorious in the Nationwide Charity Challenge, which was a result of the previous Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award competition. $25,000 was given to his foundation as a result of Chiefs supporters supporting him on social media and helping him win. The Charity Challenge has been won by both current and former Chiefs players; tight end Travis Kelce won it in the 2020–21 campaign, and safety Tyrann Mathieu won it the following year.

The Charity Challenge winner this year will receive a donation of $35,000; the runners-up and third-place winners will receive $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.
