Steelers HC Mike Tomlin Replies to ‘Fire Canada’ Chants

Mike Tomlin on Steelers Fans' 'Fire Canada' Chants: 'I Appreciate Their Passion' | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report

The head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers clearly received the message.

Pittsburgh — During the team’s Week 2 home game, Pittsburgh Steelers fans did not hold back and made it clear to all that they were not happy with the offense. However, Steelers Nation began the game with the loudest chant of the fourth quarter, following the team’s inability to convert on a third down that could have sealed the victory.

The crowd let out a collective “Fire Canada” as the punt unit returned to the field, causing the fans to erupt in annoyance. Head coach Mike Tomlin heard it, but wide receiver George Pickens and quarterback Kenny Pickett denied hearing it in the aftermath.

While acknowledging the fans’ dislike for offensive coordinator Matt Canada, Tomlin said the team isn’t ignoring their thoughts during his weekly press conference.

“I value their fervor. “We all share their passion,” Tomlin remarked. “I adore our fans; we have an amazing relationship with them and they inspire and challenge us. We run toward challenges rather than away from them. This is the entertainment sector for sports. It is our responsibility to triumph and amuse them. We therefore have no complaints about that. We want them to be spoilt, chubby, and sassy. That is what we do.”

Tomlin expressed his confidence in his coordinator despite listening to the fans and acknowledging that the offensive struggles are turning into a worrying trend.

I don’t share their worries because of how I see things. I participate in the process; when you participate in the process, you experience less difficulty,” Tomlin remarked.

As of right now, the team is working to solve the issue rather than taking any “knee-jerk reactions,” according to Tomlin.
