Bulldogs captain allowed back at training following Gus peace talks amid ugly contract standoff

NRL News 2023: Exiled Canterbury captain Raymond Faitala-Mariner returns to Bulldogs training | Daily Telegraph

The Daily Telegraph reports that Raymond Faitala-Mariner, the former captain of the Bulldogs club, has reportedly resumed training after being told not to participate in preseason.

After an ugly standoff, Cameron Ciraldo’s squad returned for preseason play on Monday. However, the 30-year-old was informed that his attendance wasn’t required.

The 30-year-old has been informed he is free to negotiate with rivals even though he still has two years left on his current contract.

After club executives made their position known, he was also seen having a crisis meeting with Bulldogs chief Phil Gould.

The player’s union became involved after Faitala-Mariner was informed that he wasn’t wanted at training and contacted the lock about his treatment.
