As Cincinnati prepared to snap the ball on second down with around 7 minutes of the half remaining, viewers on CBS suddenly saw the game clock reset to 0:00.
The clocks in the stadium reset too, leaving fans, players, and officials all confused.
The unusual malfunction led to officials having to keep time on the field as stadium staff rushed to fix the issue.
CBS rules analyst Gene Steratore explained: “There is an official on the field who is the back-up game clock.

Fans were quick to comment on the stoppage, with one saying: “If the Bengals lose today it’s because of this clock malfunction. Browning was in the zone and headed for a 400 yard game.”
Another said: “The Bengals vs Steelers game is so bad the clock quit.”
While a third added: “Never seen game clock malfunction in game and telecast has no time lmao.”

And a fourth said: “This clock situation for the Steelers-Bengals game is so wild. I have quite literally never seen anything like it at any football game at any level. There’s now just no clock being shown. Insane.”
Following a short stoppage, play resumed and the clocks eventually returned to their correct timing.
The Bengals headed into the game without starting quarterback Joe Burrow.
The former No. 1 overall pick will miss the remainder of the season due to a wrist injury.
Pittsburgh came into the game with a fresh offensive plan after firing offensive coordinator Matt Canada earlier this week.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett has struggled throughout the year, throwing for just 1,722 yards and 6 touchdowns through 10 games.
Despite his struggles, the Steelers remain 6-4 and have a winning record despite being outgained in every game his season.
Earlier this month, ESPN analyst Mike Greenberg declared they might be the “worst team in the NFL.”
