2 of Tennessee Vols’ biggest rivals lose 5-star commits on same day

On the same day, five-star commits to the Tennessee Vols were lost by two of their biggest rivals.

Five-star safety Xavier Filsaime switched his commitment from Florida to Texas earlier on Monday.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound McKinney, Texas native Filsaime had committed to the Gators in April. He is ranked as the 2024 recruiting class’s No. 30 overall player and the No. 2 safety in the country.

Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola switched his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska later on Friday afternoon.

Raiola is ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in the country and the No. 6 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class. He had committed to Georgia in May.

Shortly after quarterback Carson Beck announced he would be returning to Athens for the 2024 season, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound quarterback announced his decommitment from Georgia.

Twenty years ago, Dominic, Raiola’s father, was a star player for Nebraska who had his jersey retired. Donovan, Raiola’s uncle, coaches the offensive line for the Cornhuskers. Raiola’s decision to join Nebraska is therefore not entirely coincidental.
