On Monday, it was anticipated that the Tennessee Vols would sign a highly sought-after defender through the NCAA transfer portal.
Chris Hummer and Collin Kennedy of 247Sports both predicted on Monday that Tennessee would sign Jermod McCoy, an Oregon State cornerback transfer.
McCoy, a former Texas Whitehaven four-star recruit, is returning to Oregon State after an impressive true freshman campaign.
In2023, the 6-foot/180-pound cornerback recorded 31 tackles, seven interceptions, and break-ups of passes.
Cornerbacks who are true freshmen almost never see the field. However, McCoy was able to see action as a true freshman and record some respectable stats.
Should the Vols sign McCoy, they will acquire a player with immediate impact. And given that Tennessee lost several defensive backs to the transfer portal this offseason, that’s crucial.
Among the universities that have offered McCoy are Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas, USC, Colorado, West Virginia, Florida, and Oklahoma.
