49ers injury report: McCaffrey, Samuel, Williams miss practice

SANTA CLARA — Before 49ers practice began on Friday, running back Christian McCaffrey performed physical therapy drills on a side field.

McCaffrey and an athletic training staff member from the 49ers were observed running, cutting, and performing high knees. There were no indications of discomfort on his part.

McCaffrey was not allowed to participate in practice, only working on his conditioning and rehabilitation.

Although it seems like his chances of playing in Monday night’s 49ers game against the Minnesota Vikings are growing, his status is still uncertain. McCaffrey’s oblique injury, as described by the team, prevented him from practicing on Friday.

Both left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) and wide receiver Deebo Samuel (shoulder) missed practice. Williams and Samuel were not seen as practice got underway.

The injuries sustained by McCaffrey, Samuel, and Williams during the 49ers’ 19–17 Week 6 loss to the Cleveland Browns are “day to day,” according to coach Kyle Shanahan’s statement on Thursday.

On Friday, the 49ers received positive news as linebacker Dre Greenlaw resumed limited practice following a week-long absence due to a hamstring injury.
