ESPN REPORT: Unexpected: Sam Pittman Struggling to Sign 22-Year-Old Star Electric… What do you think about this?
Arkansas’s FAYETTEVILLE Prior to their game against Florida International, Rod Gilmore of ESPN stated at the start of the broadcast that Arkansas coach Sam Pittman’s job is not in jeopardy.
He claimed the coach informed him that he and Hunter Yurachek, the athletics director, “had a two-hour meeting this week,” and the Arkansas coach expressed assurance that he won’t be fired this season.
When questioned about it during his postgame press conference, Pittman replied, “I don’t remember having that conversation with those guys.
” “We lose out on recruiting when we start talking about firing and other such things. Particularly when we make up narratives. Guys, I don’t think I’m getting fired. If not, [Hunter Yurachek] would have informed me that I was being let go.”
It appears that statement may not have been entirely true, despite Pittman’s apparent assurance that he won’t be fired this year. Pittman was reportedly scheduled to be fired following an embarrassing performance in a 48-10 loss to Auburn last week, according to multiple media and other outlet reports.
In spite of all the rumors, the week proceeded according to plan, with Pittman continuing to carry out his regular responsibilities and all regular activities finished. After Arkansas defeated FIU 44-20 on Saturday, Pittman met with the media and was informed of Gilmore’s findings. Yurachek was seated in the back of the press conference.
After falling behind 13–7 at the end of the first quarter on Saturday, the Razorbacks were unable to get off to a quick start against the Panthers. After settling into a rhythm, the Razorbacks’ offense produced a season-high 507 yards of offense.
