Research on the potential 76ers arena won’t be published until the following year.

The impact studies on the proposed arena for the Philadelphia 76ers will be published in 2024, which will delay the city’s previously scheduled release of the study’s results.
City officials announced Thursday that the impact studies of the proposed 76ers arena on Market Street would not be made public until the following year, during the administration of incomingMayor Cherelle  Parker. The results were anticipated before 2023 came to an end.

The economic analysis and the community impact assessment are the two studies whose releases have been postponed until unknown times. Outside experts who support the city’s planning commission are also reviewing the arena’s design; however, their work will not be included in a formal report.

The Sixers revealed their $1.55 billion plan in July 2022, which called for replacing a section of Market Street’s Fashion District Mall. The Sixers have pledged to fund the arena privately and have hailed the project, which also includes a residential skyscraper, as a crucial investment in Market East’s rebirth.

Residents of Chinatown have strongly opposed the project, claiming that it will jeopardize the neighborhood’s preservation and negatively impact the quality of life while construction is underway. A $50 million community benefits agreement aimed at resolving Chinatown’s and other communities’ concerns has been promised by the team.

The studies are intended to generate reports on the various scenarios that the consultants analyzed, not recommendations regarding whether or not the arena should proceed, according to city officials.
