Putting together a short list of Alabama football’s greatest players throughout its illustrious history is no small feat. Still, we went ahead and did it. Here are our 25 all-time favorite football players to wear the Crimson Tide uniform, listed chronologically. (Through the 2021–2022 season, all statistics and all-time leaders are accurate.)

one of the first football stars in Alabama history. The star of Alabama’s 1925 team that won a national championship was Brown. Known for his lightning-fast reflexes, Brown scored twice in the Crimson Tide’s shocking Rose Bowl victory over Washington that season. The victory essentially made Southern college football teams more respectable and guaranteed Alabama’s national championship. Even though Brown was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, he is perhaps most remembered for being one of the biggest western film stars in Hollywood at the time.

Sington was not only an exceptional football player at Alabama, but he was also a brilliant baseball player who eventually played for the Washington Senators and Brooklyn Dodgers. Sington was an All-American in football in 1929 and 1930. He played a key role in the Crimson Tide’s third NCAA-recognized national championship during the 1930 campaign. In 1955, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
