Three calendar years have passed since Nick Saban last raised a national championship trophy, and the two seasons that have passed since then have equaled the longest wait period that Alabama supporters have experienced under Saban. We may be spoilt, but even though Alabama is back in the College Football Playoff, their chances of winning aren’t very high.
Michigan, the Tide’s semifinal opponent, was set up as a slight betting favorite right away, and things haven’t changed. The Tide will play either a Texas team that defeated Alabama in Tuscaloosa early in the season or a Washington team that has defeated Texas if they make it past Michigan.
It will be difficult going forward for an Alabama team that has its share of shortcomings.
