NBA. Kyle Lowry to Jaylen Brown: NBA, you are so f**king dirty. According to Dwight Howard, Nikola Jokic’s career peaked earlier than his own.
Following a heartbreaking blowout loss to the rival Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Philadelphia 76ers parted ways with Doc Rivers. The team hired a replacement for him in less than two weeks.
Nick Nurse, a former Toronto Raptors coach, has agreed to a contract with Philadelphia. Nurse will attempt to lead the struggling Sixers to the NBA Finals for the first time in more than 20 years.
The nurse’s past with a significant Philadelphia executive
Nurse’s connection to team president Daryl Morey made him an instant favorite to succeed Rivers in Philadelphia.
In 2011, Morey appointed Nurse as head coach of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Nurse led the Vipers, the Houston Rockets’ development league affiliate, to a championship two seasons later. After that, the nurse moved to Toronto and worked as an assistant for five years before being promoted to the top position. Nurse led the Raptors to their maiden NBA championship in his first season as head coach.
Big choices in Philadelphia are still to come
The 76ers can change course and make roster changes now that the new head coach has been appointed in order to give Nurse the best chance of competing with the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks in the East.
