Bryan Bresee, a star player for the Clemson Tigers, writes a heartbreaking ode to his sister Ella, a 15-year-old brain cancer survivor, who brought “happiness to me and so many people.”
The Clemson Tigers’ defensive tackle Bryan Bresee revealed on Instagram on Thursday that his 15-year-old sister Ella passed away from brain cancer.
“I know for a fact that Heaven has gained a beautiful angel today,” the writer wrote.
‘Ella Strong’ t-shirts were worn by players and coaches during the university’s Saturday night game against Furman University as a way to honor Ella.
She was at the South Carolina school with her family for the game, but on Friday she fell ill and was sent to a nearby emergency room.
Afterwards, she wasevacuated to Washington, DC, and on Sunday, Bresee reunited with his family to be by her side.

A standout Clemson football player has disclosed that his 15-year-old sister passed away from brain cancer.

Tigers defensive tackle Bryan Bresee said Ella passed away after a months-long struggle.

He wrote an incredibly moving ode to the adolescent, calling her a ‘beautiful angel’ who brought ‘happiness to me and so many people’.

 

Days had passed since she was honored at the university’s football game, where coaches and players wore “Ella Strong” shirts in her honor.

Bresee posted a photo of Ella and him holding their dogs and grinning at the camera on Instagram.

He wrote: “My lovely sister Ella, you never cease to astound me with the strength you showed and the unwavering joy you showed throughout this struggle.”

He wrote, “I want to thank you for bringing happiness to not only me but so many people. I never thought I would be sitting here today saying bye to you.”

“Heaven has gained a beautiful angel today, and you are the best sister a brother could ask for.” I will always and forever love you, Ella bear.

Early last year, Ella received a diagnosis of aggressive brain cancer.

She got sick on Friday and was taken to a nearby emergency room, but she was at South Carolina University with the rest of the Bresee family for the game on Saturday night, according to Sports Illustrated.

After the university’s victory over Furman, Bresee joined his family in Washington, DC, where she was flown to on Saturday morning.

Bresee’s absence from Saturday’s game against Louisiana Tech is now anticipated as he continues to grieve for his sister.
