How the 49ers’ Christmas loss to the Ravens was rated by PFF

How PFF graded Purdy, 49ers in Christmas loss to Ravens

The 49ers’ PFF rankings following their disappointing 33-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday are to be expected.

Despite being under pressure for a large portion of the game at Levi’s Stadium, Brock Purdy had four interceptions for other reasons. The Ravens’ defense was brutal, seizing every chance to take the ball away, which they accomplished five times.

There were none of the deep passes Purdy had been getting known for, giving the Ravens a shorter field to cover. Purdy completed four of his fourteen attempts for 29 yards, three interceptions, and a 0.0 passer rating on short passes under 10 yards downfield.

Purdy performed a little better on passes ranging from 10 to 19 yards downfield, completing 9 of his 11 attempts for 215 yards, one interception, and an 80.9 passer rating.

In all, the 49ers’ offensive line gave up 22 pressures, which forced the Iowa State product and Sam Darnold—who took over after Purdy sustained an injury in the third quarter—to run.

Due to injuries sustained by Aaron Banks (toe) and Trent Williams (groin) during the game, the offensive line underwent a slight rearrangement. Spencer Burford took over at right tackle, and Colton McKivitz moved to the left to cover for his All-Pro teammate.

During 24 pass-blocking plays on the right side, Burford gave up four pressures, including one sack and three hurries. McKivitz gave up two pressures (one rush and one sack) at right tackle and seven pressures (five rushes and two sacks) at left tackle.
