Spurs to See a Change? Gregg Popovich Could Be Prepared to Make a Change.

“I need to demand [more] from certain people,” said Gregg Popovich, the coach of the San Antonio Spurs, following the game. “It’s time they have to be more consistent or I make changes.”

The San Antonio Spurs lost 130-118 at home to the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night, bringing their record to 25 losses before the new year.

A franchise-worst 18-game losing streak and a current five-game skid are part of those 25 losses.

Gregg Popovich, the coach of the Spurs, may be looking to make some changes even though winning isn’t his main objective.

After the game, Popovich remarked, “I need to demand [more] from certain people.” “It’s time they have to be more consistent or I make changes.”

Popovich gave a vague response during the press conference. The majority of players on a 4–25 team are capable of playing better, more reliable basketball; this includes Victor Wembanyama, the first overall pick, who only scored 15 points on an ineffective 6–15 shooting night.

Benchmarking Wembanyama is probably not going to be part of the change, but things might start to look different. Julian Champagnie has started the last two games for San Antonio, who is already experimenting with some lineup changes. Keldon Johnson has been benched.

Johnson has the most decorated career of any Spurs player and has the ability to be the team’s best player most of the time, but it looks like he will stay on the bench for the time being.

Although difficulties are expected for young teams, there comes a point at which these difficulties become more pronounced and the team’s progress slows down as a result. Maybe the Spurs need these “changes” from Pop exactly.
