According to media reports, the father of a Georgia football player who perished in a car crash in January that claimed the lives of two people has filed a lawsuit against the University of Georgia Athletic Association, claiming it is responsible for the collision that claimed the lives of recruiting staff member Chandler LeCroy and offensive lineman Devin Willock.
The LeCroy estate, the former defensive tackle for Georgia Jalen Carter, and the Toppers International Showbar, a strip club in Athens, Georgia, where the group had their pre-accident meeting, are also named as defendants in the complaint.
Those who have seen the paperwork claim that Willock’s father, Dave, and the Willock estate are requesting $30 million in compensatory damages from the defendants and an extra $10 million in punitive damages from Carter.

Additionally, this month, Willock’s lawyers informed the university’s board of regents that they intended to pursue $2 million in damages for Willock’s untimely death.
LeCroy’s vehicle was rented by the UGAAA, and according to Willock’s lawsuit, Carter was racing the SUV at over 100 mph prior to the collision while operating a suspended Florida driver’s license.
Police claim that LeCroy was driving an SUV that was being raced by Carter prior to the tragedy, which claimed the lives of Willock and LeCroy on January 15, only hours after Georgia had celebrated winning its second consecutive College Football Playoff national championship.
Following his departure at the 2023 NFL Combine, Carter was taken into custody on March 1 and accused of reckless driving and street racing.
He entered a plea of not guilty and was imposed a 12-month probationary period, fined $1,000, ordered to perform 80 hours of community service, and had to finish a defensive driving course mandated by the state. Carter is accused in Willock’s lawsuit of having a “pattern of excessive speeding.”
In recent months, a number of Georgia football players, both active and retired, have been embroiled in significant legal disputes.
RaRa Thomas, a wide receiver, was detained this offseason on suspicion of felonies, but those allegations were later dropped.
Police reported that Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett was knocking on doors in the middle of the night while intoxicated, leading to his arrest while he was practicing in Dallas. Meanwhile, defender Jamon Dumas-Johnson was issued a ticket for reckless driving and racing.
