It is possible that the Ohio State Buckeyes will lose a large number of their best players to the NFL Draft or graduation.
A portion of that has already begun, as former starting quarterback Kyle McCord has already accessed the transfer portal. It also seems likely that Marvin Harrison Jr. will soon leave.
But a lot of the other elite players on the team, who might be selected in the first or second round in the draft, are also thinking about coming back to try their hand at a Big Ten Title in 2024, or perhaps even more.
defensive end A player like that is Jack Sawyer. And while he hasn’t stated categorically that he would return to Columbus for the upcoming campaign, he does appear to be leaning in that direction.
When asked if he will play in the season opener against Akron in the fall of next year, Sawyer responded, “I don’t know, we’ll see.” Yes, that’s more than likely. Most likely.
The most recent player to make a return hint is Sawyer. not only for himself but also for the other players who have an impact on the team.
These players have discussed their potential to create a significant impact in 2024 extensively, and they are aware that if it occurs.
Perhaps more critical, though, is that those players appear to understand that they have what it takes to make a significant leap, as seen by their performance on the ball defense from 2021 to 2022.
“You saw how big of a jump you can take, and what happens when you build off the first year into the second year,” Sawyer remarked. “If we all decide to return, I still believe we have a big leap to make next year.”
It will probably take a few more days to find out exactly who will and won’t return for the Buckeyes in the upcoming season.
However, it appears that they might defy the current college football tendency and bring back a significant number of those NFL prospects based on Sawyer’s and similar remarks.
