Raiders Would Shocked Insider If They Didn’t Cut $72 Million Star.

If Aidan O’Connell plays as quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders again this season, it’s unlikely that Jimmy Garoppolo will do so after he had a four-touchdown performance against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 15. It appears that one of the worst decisions of the year was made by the team when it offered him a three-year, $72.75 million contract in the offseason.

There is no way that the Raiders won’t release Garoppolo this offseason, according to ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, even though he could have a $28.3 million dead cap hit if cut in 2024.

In a column published on December 21, Barnwell stated, “O’Connell will be in Year 2 of his rookie deal.” “The Raiders will release Garoppolo, who will earn slightly over $35 million for his six starts in Raiders uniforms, barring an unbelievable turn of events. Of that amount, $11.3 million is a guaranteed bonus that is due the following season. Over the next two years, Vegas will have dead money totaling almost $29 million for Garoppolo.
