Clemson hopes to continue late-season turnaround against…

And with a five-game winning streak and a victory over Kentucky (7-5) in the Gator Bowl on Friday, the Tigers can now end their worst season since 2010.

Phil Mafah, a running back, said, “It just shows that we have no quit.” “We’re going to react when our backs are against the wall. Whatever we have to deal with, we will react.

What had appeared to be coach Dabo Swinney’s worst season at Clemson in his fifteen years was saved when the Tigers defeated rival South Carolina, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Notre Dame.

“I’ve experienced far more difficult seasons than finishing 8-4 and earning a trip to the Gator Bowl. That’s for sure, according to Swinney. This year, we definitely experienced some disappointment: four trips inside the 10 at Duke, a double-overtime loss, an overtime loss, and an inability to score. That may be a small amount of football adversity, but this season has been all about it.

“When things don’t work out as planned, you discover a lot about people.”

In October and November, Kentucky’s fortunes did not improve much. Before defeating rival and then-No. 9 Louisville in the Governor’s Cup, the Wildcats dropped five out of six games.

They made it to the Gator Bowl as a result. From there, things got better when standout running back Ray Davis chose to participate in the match despite having declared his intention to turn pro.

It describes Ray in great detail. It speaks volumes about our group, said head coach Mark Stoops. There are other players who may have NFL opportunities and who are in a similar situation. I’m not surprised by it. This group of guys makes up a great team.
