Jack Sawyer said that he “more than likely” will play for Ohio State again in 2024, but he hasn’t made an official announcement yet.Petkiewicz, David, Cleveland.com
Columbus, Ohio Jack Sawyer has hinted at his future plans, although he had previously declared that he would participate in Ohio State’s Cotton Bowl matchup against Missouri on Friday.
The defensive end is one of a few third-year players that have the option to sign with the NFL; however, they have all decided to hold off on making their decisions until after the bowl game. While Sawyer intends to follow suit, he indicated on Tuesday that he is at least considering making a return trip in 2024.
“We shall see,” Sawyer remarked. Yes, that’s more than likely. Most likely.

Devin Brown’s intangibles won Ohio State over, but there’s still one important question in the Cotton Bowl.
Sawyer is coming off a junior season that is best characterized as solid, though not to the extent where choosing to become pro is obvious. Sawyer, a top-five prospect in his 2021 recruiting class, has racked up 79 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles in just three seasons.
With the exception of Marvin Harrison Jr., a predicted first-round selection, virtually the whole class of 2021 recruits fits his description, which is why the other players are participating on Friday. It’s also not out of the question to imagine a situation in which Harrison, who appears to be close to withdrawing from the Cotton Bowl, is the lone player who returns the next season.
For everyone of the 2021 players whose careers have taken off in Columbus, this is a personal decision. However, it may become a collective decision made by a group that believes it still has work to do as Buckeyes.
Sawyer stated, “I think it helps the team win when you have a bunch of guys that could have gone to the NFL and they all come back and they have 50-some seniors on their roster and everybody’s experienced and all their top players are coming back.” Without a doubt, we have discussed it.
