Shaq's love for Louisiana continues to shine through

Max Christie was looking to contribute to a team that was hoping to win a championship right away as he entered his sophomore season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

To date, though, things haven’t quite gone as planned, with Christie sporadically making the starting lineup during the first 32 games.

Christie started the Lakers’ final five games of November, but when other players began to regain health at the beginning of December, Christie was benched. Since then, Christie’s playing time has decreased; in the five games prior to Thursday’s matchup with the Charlotte Hornets, he has played just one minute overall.

Christie took advantage of his second opportunity in the rotation against Charlotte while Cam Reddish was sidelined due to a groin injury. Despite shooting 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and 3-for-4 from the field, he finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two blocks in just twenty-four minutes during the Lakers’ decisive victory.

Christie talked about the difficulty of being in and out of the rotation while attempting to stay prepared after the victory.

Christie acknowledged, “It’s been kind of the story of the season for me.” I’ve been in and out of the rotation quite a bit, so I have to be prepared to play when my name is called. Being as professional as I can in all aspects of my life—recovery, film studies, and on the court—is my concept of mentality. Thus, I believe that my preparation for the game comes from a combination of all those factors and the work I’ve been doing.

“Well, energy, for sure. Christie remarked, “I want to contribute energy off the bench.” “I believe it’s just me acting freely and forcefully. The less I think while I’m on the floor, in my opinion, the better. I believe that today was a pretty good illustration of that—I wasn’t really thinking all that much. I wanted to be efficient on both ends of the floor when I did that kind of thing, so I was just letting my body move and my instincts take control.

Christie, who is only 20 years old, has demonstrated a great deal of maturity on the court this season by being prepared for his call of duty and refraining from pouting in the interim. Christie will undoubtedly be prepared to play if his number is called again, but it will be interesting to see if his performance against the Hornets earns him more minutes going forward.

Christie will certainly be ready to go if his number is called again, but it will be interesting to watch if he continues to get more minutes after his showing against the Hornets.

Christie is aware that he must play defense if he hopes to contribute to Darvin Ham’s team and earn playing time.

He remarked, “That’s one thing I can always control.” “Offensively, shots might not always fall. Even though I don’t always get the ball as much, I can always control the defense. I’ll be guarding one of the best players on the opposing team for the most of the game, so I find that just putting in that effort on the other end of the court helps me find my rhythm. shot blocking, steals, strong competition, and forcing them to miss jumpers. Whatever the case might be. That gives me energy, and it helps me move more freely offensively.
