Kyle Farmer, an infielder for the Minnesota Twins, was struck in the face while at bat and is no longer in need of emergency surgery.
During the fourth inning of the MLB pro’s game against the Chicago White Sox, a 92 mph fastball was hit just below the helmet flap.
Following the game, reporters were informed by Twins manager Rocco Baldelli that Farmer would require surgery to realign his teeth.
The team’s communications representative, Dustin Morse, tweeted on Wednesday night that Kyle “had successful surgery on his lower lip & bottom 4 teeth at Regions Hospital with Dr. Dave Hamlar.”
According to The Athletic, Farmer will have his external stitches taken out in a week. After the swelling has subsided, a follow-up report is anticipated in ten days.
