Under Luke Fickell’s direction, the University of Wisconsin football team finished the regular season with a 28-14 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday afternoon. Braelon Allen, the top running back for the Badgers, was the game’s hero after carrying 26 times for 165 yards and two scores. Is this the final time we’ll see Allen wearing a Badgers uniform?
With Allen eligible to enter the 2024 NFL Draft, many have speculated about what his future holds. Allen gave a thoughtful response when questioned about his future plans after Saturday’s victory over Minnesota.
“I’m not sure. You’ll find out soon enough, I’m not sure,” Allen said to reporters.
Reflecting on the team’s goals, Allen emphasized that the team’s first priority was to qualify for bowl games before turning their attention on winning the Axe Trophy back.
“Two weeks ago, as a team, our only goal was to try to qualify for the bowl,” Allen remarked. “Of course, the Freedom Trophy followed that accomplishment, but the Axe was the next in line. That was an indisputable point. With it, we had to part from here. It’s incredible to go out like way during the regular season.”
There is still a lot of waiting to see if Braelon Allen will declare for the NFL Draft or stay at Wisconsin for another season. The curiosity around his future has only grown as a result of his incredible play against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Whatever his decision, Allen has already had a big impact on the Wisconsin football program, and this season will go down as one of the most memorable ones ever.
