The Hollywood Reporter reports that the star of Gilligan’s Island, who portrayed Mary Ann Summers on the popular show from 1964 to 1967, passed away in Los Angeles on December 29. She was eighty-two.

According to Wells’ publicist, the actress passed away from conditions associated with the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

Ginger’s actress Tina Louise is the final main cast member of Gilligan’s Island still alive. In addition, Russell Johnson (Professor Roy Hinkley), Alan Hale Jr. (Skipper), and Bob Denver (Gilligan) starred in the program.

In the TV films Rescue from Gilligan’s Island (1978), The Castaways on Gilligan’s Island (1979), and The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan’s Island (1981), Wells returned to the role after the family comedy’s success.
