Former Major League All-Star Stephen Vogt is the new manager of the Cleveland Guardians.

Paul Hoyes of Cleveland.com had the news on “X:”

Terry Francona, who retired at the beginning of the offseason, has been replaced as manager of the Guardians by a new person.

2) Vogt was coaching the Seattle Mariners’ bullpen during the 2023 campaign; the team lost him. Losing important coaches going into a pivotal offseason is not good news for a team that missed the playoffs by 1.0 game the previous season.

3) Craig Counsell is no longer a candidate for the position of Guardian. He may decide to go back to the Brewers or consider the Mets, where he has already had an interview.
