This week, all eyes are on Bill Belichick.

Is he going to be the Patriots’ final coach? How would he respond to incessant inquiries about his plans for New England?

There is still no response to the initial query. However, if Belichick’s performance on Tuesday morning WEEI is any guide, he might respond to inquiries this week on his employment status with something more than a snort and a grunt.

During his interview on “The Greg Hill Show,” Belichick was questioned on the subject several times. Although the Patriots head coach was not a blank slate, he never came across as irritated and provided responses that could be seen as sincere.

Regarding if he would consider hiring a conventional general manager: “Thank you for your inquiry. Once more, observing the Jets at this moment, attempting to prepare to take them on. We haven’t played them in a very long time. I will truly concentrate on that. Look, there are a lot of hypotheticals and a lot of past and future information. I’m totally concentrated on the current situation. That is my responsibility.

After that, Hill told Belichick of the big “interest” in his future, saying it was a credit to everything he had done with the Patriots. After saying he “appreciated” the comment, Belichick gave a really solid response.

“I’ve tried to approach my job the same way every week, regardless of my success or lack thereof—good years, bad years, or anything in between,” he remarked. Every week, prepare yourself for that particular week, give it your all to help your side win, and then move on to the next match after that one. And when the season comes to a close, it truly does.

“However, on a weekly basis, I don’t want to waste time or become entangled in events that occurred five years ago, events that will transpire in two years, or a host of other meaningless things. Working only on the Jets. I’m dedicated to the players on this team that I now coach. They

The hosts then asked Belichick, with a laugh, if they could schedule weekly interviews with him for the upcoming season. Belichick really laughed at the question, but he still sidestepped it.

Yes, once more, thank you for the inquiry. I’m employed with the Jets.

After that, Hill wished Belichick luck in his matchup with the Jets and thanked him for appearing on the show. Instead of murmuring “thank you” and ending the call

“All right, Greg, you’re welcome. You know, if I was going to do something, I would post it on MyFace and Twitter for everyone to see. But I’ll just keep it private if I don’t do that.

Yes, in 2024 Bill Belichick is still making jokes about MySpace.

It’s very probable that during his morning press conference on Wednesday, Belichick adopts a different demeanor and scolds reporters. If nothing else, his appearance on WEEI on Tuesday was an intriguingly optimistic beginning to what will undoubtedly be an odd week at One Patriot Place.
