Following the death of her son, Bullock’s mother said on Facebook:

He most certainly led this kind of life. He was both a doer and a dreamer.

Dream as though you will always be alive. Act as though your death is imminent.
We lost our son Damon to a horrific accident this morning, and I must say this with heavy heart as I write this post.
Never again will I be the same. I am clueless on how or what to do. We are grateful for each and every prayer, text, and phone conversation. PLZ ASK FOR US IN PRAYER! I’m not sure I get it. Lord, you are aware of our name! Would you please?

Iowa also issued a statement when Bullock’s death was announced.

Kirk Ferentz stated in a release, “Our thoughts and prayers are with Damon’s parents, Kimberly and Roscoe, and the entire family.” We are all shocked by Damon’s sad and untimely passing, as are his former teammates and the Iowa football team. Damon was a wonderful young guy, and we were glad to have him as a member of the Hawkeye football team.

Bullock attended Iowa for four years. He gained 1,074 yards and four touchdowns through rushes in his four seasons with the Hawkeyes. In Iowa City, he also finished his career with 616 receiving yards.
