Nick Sirianni of the Eagles is not sorry he switched to Matt Patricia: “I think that change was required.”

Following the Eagles’ 35-31 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, head coach Nick Sirianni reiterated his faith in defensive coordinator Matt Patricia on Monday.

Patricia replaced Sean Desai as coordinator more than three weeks ago, with Sirianni looking for an in-season spark. Since then, though, the Eagles have had a 1-2 record, with the opposition pulling off last-minute comeback drives in both of their losses to the Seattle Seahawks and Cardinals.

“We’re going to continue to go in the direction we’re going in on defense that we’ve been these last couple weeks,” Sirianni stated. “Earlier in the year, we made a change to get things back on track. We thought they were for a few weeks. And Sunday, well, that just plain wasn’t up to our expectations, either in terms of coaching or playing to our standards.
