SAN ANTONIO: A coach is a coach, forever.

When asked about the San Antonio Spurs rookie’s NBA debut on the French program NBA Extra, Vincent Collet, the former head coach of the French national team, may have been thinking of this.

Collet was asked for his assessment of French NBA players.

When he finally spoke with Wemby, he was a little harsh. He evaluated the rookie’s San Antonio early NBA career as follows:

“His shooting percentage is a little disappointing to me. That, in my opinion, is insufficient for a player like him, Collet stated via Basket News. “A number of things are involved, such as the way his teammates support him. He ought to be given more chances to make simple baskets, as this would raise his shooting percentage.”

His shooting percentages do indicate that he needs to improve.

He is at 74% at the rim and 50% from inside the three-point arc. He is, however, shooting 39% from 10 to 16 feet away from the rim and 27% from the three-point line.

If you’re keeping tabs on who is helping rookie Wembanyama the most this season, Tre Jones leads the pack with 15, followed by Devin Vassell with 11 and Keldon Johnson with 13.

Collet also commented on Wemby’s choices of shots and choices of action.
