While other Super League teams express interest, the Castleford Tigers’ pursuit of Cronulla Sharks starlet Kayal Iro is still ongoing.

Iro has been strongly linked to a move to Super League, specifically to The Jungle, but with Castleford’s quota allowance, it’s unclear if Iro would actually make the move in light of the recent signings of Billy Tsikrikas and Liam Horne.

With Horne’s recent signing, the Tigers now have eight overseas players. If Iro is added, that number would rise to nine for the West Yorkshire team.

But with Bureta Faraimo and Mahe Fonua leaving last night, Castleford is back to having one quota spot available.

Castleford is reportedly leading the search for a powerful centerfielder who can also play fullback and wing, according to The Mole.

Iro has only participated in one match in Australia’s most prestigious competition, the NRL, despite his high rating. The Sharks have a particularly formidable backline.

In Super League, the name Iro is well-known since Kayal’s father, Kevin, had successful stints with Wigan, Leeds, and St Helens.
