Among Kirk Herbstreit’s top head coaches from week three is Brent Venables.

Kirk Herbstreit, an ESPN analyst and former Ohio State quarterback, publishes a list of the best head coaches each week. Brent Venables, the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, cracked the list for the first time, coming in at No. 5 on the third edition.

On this list, though, Venables’ placement isn’t the most intriguing item. Whom does he rank higher than? Steve Sarkisian of Texas is ranked highest on the list following the Longhorns’ victory over UTSA.

Even though the Longhorns faced numerous challenges following their Week 2 loss to Alabama, including Quinn Ewers’ injury, their star quarterback, it seems excessive to rank Sarkisian first after defeating a Conference USA team at home.
