A farewell to the 2023 season for the New York Yankees.

The New York Yankees’ 2023 postseason journey has come to an official end after their Sunday loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The season has officially ended for a while now; we have just been waiting for the inevitable. There’s no denying that the Yankees have fallen short of expectations in 2023. Supporters have demanded the dismissal of manager Aaron Boone and general manager Brian Cashman, or both. Ownership has faced criticism for what is seen as a lack of dedication to winning, opting instead to concentrate on making sure the team is profitable.

After agreeing to a massive $360 million extension, Aaron Judge had a freak toe injury that caused him to miss two months of the season. Despite this, Judge emerged as the team’s best hitter, hitting 35 home runs and generating 4.1 bWAR.

The two players who were expected to support Judge in the middle of the lineup—Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo—have both fallen short in different ways. Despite his 24 home runs, Stanton’s batting average is below.200, and Rizzo’s output fell after he was misdiagnosed after a collision with Fernando Tatis, Jr. Despite his impressive stats of 25 home runs and 13 stolen bases, Gleyber Torres’ baserunning and fielding errors have angered the fan base.
