Raptors’ Barrett Is Happy About Osmow’s Shawarma Despite Being Surprised by Trade.

The guard from Missisauga is thrilled to go to his favorite shwarma shop more frequently, but he was taken aback when he was traded to the Toronto Raptors.

The Toronto Raptors have seen some light after a dismal start to the 2023–24 NBA season, and RJ Barrett’s start with the team has been nothing short of extraordinary.

However, Barrett disclosed in a recent interview with ESPN’s Andscape that he was unaware that a trade to his home team was a possibility until the penultimate day of 2023, when his phone rang and it was his agent, Bill Duffy.

“I was clueless. I was just notified of the incident by phone. I asked myself, “What’s going on?” Barrett addressed Marc J. Spears of Andscape. “I was really perplexed. I was not prepared for it. I was relieved to hear about the Raptors and thought, “Well, at least I’m going home.”
