Why it’s so contentious that Florida State wasn’t included in the College Football Playoffs.

The sport was rocked when the four teams chosen for the College Football Playoffs were revealed on Sunday.

The team that was left out garnered more attention than the four that were selected for the semifinals—the Michigan Wolverines, Washington Huskies, Texas Longhorns, and Alabama Crimson Tide.

Many people were very upset about the Florida State Seminoles’ exclusion, especially those who were involved in the program.

“For many of us, today’s decision by the committee has forever damaged the credibility of the institution that is the College Football Playoff,” said Florida State University (FSU) athletics director Michael Alford.

This is all the information you require to understand why FSU was left out and why the choice has generated so much controversy.

Florida State had a successful season in 2023.

For the third time in the history of the program, the Seminoles won 13-0. But their last two victories came without their star quarterback, Jordan Travis, who ended his season on November 18 after breaking his leg in FSU’s home game against North Alabama.

With backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker, Florida State persevered and overcame a late deficit to defeat Florida in Gainesville. However, Rodemaker was unable to play in Saturday’s Atlantic Coast Conference championship game against Louisville due to a head injury.
