Jalen Hurts of the Eagles was demoted as his illness got worse.

Due to the quarterback’s illness getting worse over night, the Philadelphia Eagles have downgraded Jalen Hurts to questionable for their game against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. The team made this announcement on Sunday.

In an effort to prevent infecting anyone else, Hurts is traveling to Seattle apart from the team with the intention of playing.

The Eagles would turn to backup quarterback Marcus Mariota if Hurts is unable to play. Additionally, there are no guarantees regarding Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith’s availability to play due to a groin injury.

The Eagles-Seahawks game was flexed to “Monday Night Football” instead of the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots game, which improved Hurts’ chances of playing in Seattle. Hurts would have had a harder time playing if Sunday’s Eagles-Seahawks game had gone ahead as scheduled.

Hurts, 25, skipped Saturday’s practice. In addition to throwing for 3,192 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions this season, the 2022 Pro Bowler has scored 12 rushing touchdowns, which ties him for the second-most in the NFL.

Hurts will start at quarterback for the Eagles (10-3), who take on the struggling Seahawks (6-7) on Monday night. Smith was injured last week, and the Seahawks have lost four straight games.
