ESPN REPORT: Antonio Pierce of the las vegas raiders sets to leave the team if He is not provided with….
A decision he has had to make three times since taking over the team’s daily operations following the death of his father Al Davis in October 2011 is whether to aim high with a more seasoned and seasoned head coach (Jack Del Rio and Josh McDaniels) or stick with the lovable, huggable, locker room favorite interim coach (Tony Sparano, Rich Bisaccia, and now Antonio Pierce).

The Raiders’ most well-known player is one of Pierce’s supporters in the one game he has left to update his resume, which is Sunday at Allegiant Stadium against the Denver Broncos (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox). Or did you miss the statement made earlier in the season by All-Pro receiver Davante Adams that he would “run through a wall for that man”?
“Well, it’s evident who
Adams declared this week, “I want it, that’s my vote, and I’ve been vocal about it and that’s basically how the whole locker room feels and with good reason.” He’s really stepped in and done a terrific job, and he’s just gotten better. Not only is it more comfortable, but I believe that having A.P. here will benefit this organization. He kind of personifies what it is to be a Raider, and everything he stands for—whether it attitude, swag, or anything else—is what I support.

“It’s simple for me because I’ve worked with him a little bit this year and have gotten to know him. I’ve also seen how he’s changed as a head coach and all the other aspects of the job. Thus, [I] am undoubtedly supporting him.”
Pierce is grateful for the assistance.
“I assume you gain respect? It’s not a given,” remarked Pierce. “I’m still working on gaining their respect, of course, but in the end, as I mentioned, they’ll see what we do on the grass, and I will too. That’s the main point. That’s our role.
everything is assessed based on our actions on Sundays and game days, and we’ll let the cards fall where they may.”
Indeed, compelling arguments may be made for both moving on and hiring Pierce on a full-time basis.
Why Pierce Passion for the job/franchise was still an option for the Raiders: Growing up in Compton, California, Pierce was an avid supporter of the Los Angeles Raiders and made an immediate impression on Davis with his familiarity with the team’s past and traditions. For the owner, those items are very important.
Pierce then dazzled the locker room and his fan base by changing the culture right away. Examples of his actions include his practice music selection, his salute to the groundbreaking rap group “N.W.A.”, and his return of the Friday pre-practice dance-off to a mini-basketball hoop in the
locker room to cigars for celebration following victories.
The atmosphere felt very different from what it had been under McDaniels; it was just more Raider-like. Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor stated that the players “love playing” under Pierce and interim general manager Champ Kelly, who is also in the running for a permanent position.

You might have made the same argument about Bisaccia two years ago, and Davis must regret not checking the locker room’s temperature before leaving the cozy Bisaccia
to the cold-blooded, calculating McDaniels, the maestro of X’s and O’s. There’s a reason why McDaniels’ inaugural press conference was skipped by every player. Getting over Pierce might elicit a similar reaction.
Excellence in defense: Pierce’s promotion from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator over Patrick Graham raised some eyebrows. However, with Pierce in his new position and Graham staying in the lab, the defense has performed admirably. In fact, since Pierce took over as team captain, the defense has been on the verge of being outstanding.
Recall that Davis stated on ESPN.com that he preferred for Pierce to “delegate” to the coordinators and coaches rather than necessarily “coach” the team as much as “lead” it. Verify. Additionally
and then some.
Think about this: since Pierce’s Halloween night promotion, Las Vegas has led the NFL in defensive touchdowns scored (4) and points per game allowed (16.3). It also tied for first place in the least amount of penalties (31), tied for ninth place in sacks (25) and tied for tenth place in takeaways (13). If Pierce and the Raiders keep up the defense and make offensive improvements, they might be cooking with gas in 2024.
Since taking over, the Raiders have been competitive. Pierce, an NFL linebacker for nine seasons who was named to the Pro Bowl and won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants, is the first to argue that the product should be evaluated on the field. Even if a 4-4 score may not elicit
The Raiders, who have been competitive since Pierce took over, have a plus-49 point differential (fourth in the NFL) and have recollections of John Madden or Tom Flores. Yes, even in defeats to the Chiefs at home and at Miami, when they led 14-0 before trailing 31-3.
Actually, the Raiders would have had two more victories and been in the thick of the postseason chase if the quarterback had shown any kind of skill in the first half of this past Sunday’s game against the Colts and in the 3-0 defeat to the Vikings. However, as the business slogan states, “Just win, baby, right?” It isn’t, “Just keep it competitive and cover the point spread, baby.”
However, what Pierce has accomplished in terms of success with
It is quite admirable to have an incomplete roster. As he continues to develop into the position and the Raiders are able to build around him, just think of what he could be able to accomplish given a complete summer.
Motives for the Raiders to move on: Sometimes, game management is questionable. Just ask Bisaccia and crew, who led the Raiders through numerous choppy waters in 2021 and nonetheless managed to get Las Vegas into the postseason for just the second time since 2002, if you don’t think Pierce deserves the position. It concerns Davis’s preferences for his next head coach.
He then desired an X and O coach. Right now? Pierce’s candidacy may suffer due to Bisaccia’s lack of expertise managing games. A few of times, Pierce’s clock has
The ability to manage and know when to take a break late in the half were both lacking.

The Raiders trailed the Dolphins 14-10 late in the first half of their Week 11 travel game in Miami. With two timeouts and a two-minute warning, the Raiders gained possession at the 25-yard line. This was Pierce’s first-ever road game as an NFL head coach. Pierce, who had never served as a head coach at an institution higher than high school (Long Beach), chose not to be combative.
Poly (Calif.) said he had to “protect the young quarterback” and punted after only gaining seven yards after running the ball three times.
On-the-job training for one of 32 best football coaching jobs in the world is a luxury that Davis may not have the patience for in an atmosphere where the Raiders are seemingly always in rebuild mode rather than replenishing.
Is Pierce able to make difficult hiring decisions? Al Davis was worried that his son would become the team’s manager because of his close relationship with several players and that this could make a difficult decision more influenced by emotion. Could that have happened between Pierce and Aidan O’Connell, the rookie quarterback whom Pierce frequently referred to as his “BFF”?
Pierce attached his trailer to
the fourth-round pick upon his promotion—undoubtedly, Davis had to give the go-ahead to sit Jimmy Garoppolo, a $72.75 million veteran—and, as previously mentioned, the Raiders would be deep in the playoff hunt if their quarterback performed even somewhat well against the Vikings and Colts.
Pierce’s decision to remain with O’Connell, who has a QBR of 36.0 and has had three games with a QBR of 20.7 or lower since Pierce took over, may or may not be a mulligan. However, at the moment, many may have hoped for a different play. particularly if it meant the Raiders had to forfeit a game or two in order to assess if O’Connell would be the team’s long-term leader.
