The Los Angeles Lakers are nearing the end of their evaluation of their needs and strategy for the NBA trade deadline. The Lakers have just under a month to complete all of their last-minute preparations as the deadline is on February 8.
And although some names have already been mentioned, L.A. might be more concerned with archetypes. This season, the Lakers have been severely lacking a backup point guard and ball handler.
Gabe Vincent, their high-profile free agent acquisition, was expected to be that player; however, a knee injury has limited him to just five games this season, and it’s unclear when he will be back. LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell now have a lot of responsibility when it comes to starting the offense.
According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, the Lakers have narrowed their trade deadline search and know exactly the kind of player they want because of Vincent’s injury and the lack of other guard options.
