Florida State’s defensive end Jared Verse will be back in 2023.

Running it back is another important Florida State Seminole skill.

Defensive end Jared Verse, an All-ACC selection, and running back Trey Benson, along with defensive tackle Fabien Lovett, are Seminoles who have decided to postpone their professional careers in order to play one more season at FSU. Verse made this announcement on Saturday.

On January 7, the one-year anniversary of his transfer commitment to FSU, Verse shared the news via his Twitter account.

“We’re still not done. “I’ll see you in 2023,” Verse captioned a video showcasing his first season at FSU.

This news is somewhat surprising because Verse, who transferred from FCS Albany to FSU, was viewed as a potential first-round pick in the NFL Draft following an impressive freshman campaign. Verse tied for second place among ACC players in tackles for loss (16.5) and sacks (9) during his rookie campaign at FSU.

In addition to his 41 total tackles, the 6-foot-4, 248-pound defensive end also had a blocked field goal and at least one half-tackle for loss in each of the full games he participated in.

Alongside Jermaine Johnson, he became the second FSU defensive end transfer in as many years to be selected to the first team of the ACC. He did not win ACC Defensive Player of the Year again, but he did finish
